Why I Love the Contrology Reformer with Tower
When many years ago I was learning Pilates with Romana, I was sure that during each session I would be doing exercises both on the mat and on the reformer. Even if I completed the entire sequence of exercises on the reformer, Romana still made me lie down on the mat and do a series of exercises for the stomach or a few exercises for the lower abdomen. And since my legs could be slimmer, I was often advised to do exercises with springs for the legs on the Cadillac.
What I love about the Contrology Reformer with Tower is the fact that you can do everything on one compact device. It is perfect for those who have limited space. Why limit yourself to just exercises on the reformer when you can add the mat and most of the exercises on the Cadillac?
The Pilates method is a system. It is a carefully selected series of exercises on different machines designed to maintain balance and provide the right load for the body. Here are some of my favorite features of the Contrology Reformer with Tower.
On the reformer:
Foam
This fantastic reformer has dense foam on the moving platform and long/short box, providing the feedback you need to really feel your body on the device.
Magic indentations
On the carriage, there is a lack of foam in front of each shoulder rest. This allows for a deep embedding of the heels into the carriage during exercises such as “elephant” and “long back stretch.” The magic indentations allow the feet to adhere to the contoured shoulder rests during a series of knee stretches.
Lower footbar
The lower angle of the footbar immediately centers you (without additional cues). It’s like magic!
On the mat:
The one-piece, sliding mat provides smooth support and cushioning. You remove the shoulder rests from the moving platform (the platform remains half of the mat surface). The foam of the mat is the same, thin, dense, and springy as on the moving platform and short/long box. You can even add optional pegs to the mat to practice exercises such as the roll over, corkscrew, and “swan dive.”
On the tower:
The springs for arm and leg exercises will certainly challenge you. You can attach them to the back of the tower to enhance the effectiveness of leg, arm, and balance exercises. The wooden push-thru and roll-down bars will test your flexibility and strength.
The Contrology Reformer with Tower has many more advantages. See for yourself HERE.
