Top 5 Wooden Reformers Ranking. Which Model to Choose for Your Studio, Clinic, or Home?

Wood in a Pilates studio creates atmosphere and builds aesthetics. A good-quality wooden reformer complements the interior visually while also providing stability during training. However, choosing the right equipment can be difficult. You need to keep in mind that this decision directly affects the instructor’s comfort at work, the safety of those training, and your investment budget.

The list below presents wooden reformers from our range. Get to know the specifications, expansion options, and applications of each model, so you can choose the solution tailored to your needs.

1. Rialto Reformer – innovation and modularity for groups

The Rialto Reformer opens the list as a machine designed with intensive group classes in mind. The frame is made of hand-sanded maple wood with a satin finish, combined with powder-coated aluminum elements. It’s also worth noting the upholstery, made entirely from easy-to-clean foam.

  • Application
Pilates studios (group classes), as well as small training spaces.
  • Key features
Frame height is 36 cm. The machine has 5 Signature Springs, offering up to 46 degrees of resistance. The footbar allows the best fit for users of different heights, thanks to its 5 adjustable positions.
  • Expansion and functionality
The Rialto offers full modularity. A tower can be purchased and installed at any point during business operation. The construction also allows for mounting accessories such as Plank Bars, Jumpboard, or the Konnector system. The units can be stored stacked (one on top of another).
  • Price and reviews
The Rialto is the most affordable wooden reformer in Balanced Body’s lineup. The set includes a Sitting Box Lite and a cotton foot strap. The machine gets very positive reviews for its simple cable adjustment and modern look.

2. Studio Reformer – solid and durable

The Studio Reformer has been the industry standard since 1976. Its frame is made of wide maple wood boards (Strata Rock Maple). It’s the equipment of choice for those who prioritize maximum durability.

  • Application
Professional Pilates studios, rehabilitation practices, demanding home users.
  • Key features
The carriage’s range of motion reaches up to 104 cm. The system is based on 5 Signature Springs. Various footbar systems are available: Revo, Classic, XSR, and Infinity Footbar, as well as spring mounting systems: Revo and No-Roll Springbar. The reformer is also available in a Stretch version, extended by 15 cm.
  • Important technical note when purchasing
If you’re planning to add a tower to the machine in the future, you need to decide on this at the time of ordering. The Studio Reformer’s frame requires factory preparation and drilling of holes for the tower mount.
  • Price
The price in the base version starts at around 25,000 PLN gross. It’s an investment for decades of use. The set includes: a Standard Sitting Box, 1 pair of single cotton loops, 1 pair of neoprene handles, and 1 black cotton foot strap.

3. Clinical Reformer – ergonomics for physiotherapy and rehabilitation

The Clinical Reformer is essentially an elevated version of the Studio Reformer, equipped as standard with the innovative Infinity Footbar and the Revo Springbar adjustment system (a No-Roll Springbar version is also available). This configuration allows for over 160 different settings, which means sessions can even be run for children on it. The device was developed with input from specialists in medicine and rehabilitation.

  • Application
    Physiotherapy practices, rehabilitation centers, hospitals.
  • Key features
Standard frame height is as much as 61 cm (with 36 cm or 46 cm options also available). The elevated frame makes work easier for physiotherapists (no need to bend down) and makes it easier for patients in wheelchairs or people recovering from injuries to transfer.
  • Equipment
Uses a system of 6 Signature Springs (46 degrees of resistance) and the Infinity Footbar, adjustable across 32 horizontal and 5 vertical positions. It also has easily adjustable metal cable posts, allowing quick switching between 4 different cable-mounting height settings.
  • Purpose
Equipment chosen by physiotherapists. Because of the frame height (61 cm), the device isn’t intended for group training – box exercises at this height carry a risk of falling.
  • Price
The specialized solutions significantly raise the price of this equipment. It’s about 10,000 PLN more expensive than the Studio Reformer, but the set includes:

    • a Standard Sitting Box,
    • an additional foot platform (50 x 28 cm),
    • a Jumpboard,
    • 1 pair of padded double loops,
    • 1 pair of padded single loops,
    • 1 pair of neoprene handles,
    • 1 pair of adjustable thigh or ankle cuffs,
    • 1 padded foot strap.
