[Iza Wiśniewska from Balanced Body Polska] Today, I won’t say hello or good day. Today, I say aloha and warmly welcome you to the Balanced Body Polska channel. I am taking you on a true journey to the beach in the middle of a big city, the heart of Wilanów, specifically to Aloha Pilates. We are here with the owners: Gosia Mazur and Kuba Łuszczyk, who created this place with such an extraordinary surfer vibe and passion for movement. Gosia, Kuba, thank you very much for having us.
[Jakub Łuszczyk] Hi, thank you for being here.
[Małgorzata Mazur] We are very pleased.
[Iza] Upon entering here, the incredible atmosphere immediately catches your eye. It’s so relaxing, yet full of positive energy. What did you want clients to feel when entering Aloha Pilates?
[Kuba] Positive emotions right away, a vacation vibe, as if you are taking off your coat, who you are outside of the studio, right? It doesn’t matter what you do, whether you are, I don’t know, a CEO, a director, a doctor, a lawyer, anyone, an influencer. Here, you are yourself. Yes. You come in, feel comfortable, just like going to the beach, you don’t judge anyone, you come to have a good time.
[Gosia] We always talk informally, no one here is addressed as Mr. or Ms. There is Kasia, Krysia, Zosia. Regardless of what Kuba said, whether they are a lawyer, a CEO. Here, we are all part of a friendly community and we want everyone to feel good.

[Iza] And where did the idea for the name: Aloha Pilates come from?
[Gosia] The name was created by Kuba, so he will tell you shortly. I came up with the whole concept because when I started practicing Pilates, I began watching it on video, on YouTube, and I was looking for videos that were filmed on the beach. Later, I practiced Pilates on the beach on a mat, and when the idea of opening a studio came up, I wanted to do everything so that we could practice Pilates on the beach. Hence the visualization of the beach, the beach music. A bit of a surfer vibe here. But the name “aloha” was created by Kuba.
[Kuba] The name is primarily meant to evoke positive emotions. Well, when you say aloha, it evokes positive emotions. It should also be associated with our passion, which is kitesurfing, surfing, this kind of lifestyle – let’s call it “surfer,” right, relaxed, free. So we wanted to bring that a bit to the city here, combine it with Pilates, hence “Aloha.”
[Gosia] And “aloha” doesn’t just mean “hello,” it also means “I love.” So it also shows such passion. And “Aloha Pilates” – “I love Pilates.”
[Iza] Gosia, your personal health experiences are connected to Pilates. Tell us about that.
[Gosia] That’s true. I started practicing Pilates because I had a cervical spine injury. And Pilates on the reformer helped me improve my health condition significantly. Later, over time, it turned out that it was not only a matter of health but also appearance, which I really liked. Previously, I thought that only intense exercises could give some real results. However, in Pilates, I noticed that the effects are spectacular and sometimes less means more, which I really appreciated.

[Iza] You both have come to love Pilates on machines, just like you previously loved kitesurfing. It’s a somewhat unconventional combination, but what fascinated you about Pilates that you dedicated your own business to it?
[Gosia] It’s an obvious connection because in kitesurfing, you need a lot of body mobility, a lot of body fitness, and a strong core. And Pilates gives you all of that, so it’s a very obvious connection. It even turned out that young men, not to say boys, also practice Pilates.
[Iza] So it’s not just an exercise for women, right? That’s a bit of a myth.
[Kuba] We have brought a change to the studio and a bit – I would call it – to the industry, but we have Beach Boys classes for men. These are active men who go to the gym. And we also explain, educate clients that Pilates is not the gym, it’s not fitness, it’s not a substitute, but that they will achieve more and that it is needed. If we have groups, like us, kitesurfing, mobility, strong core, right, everything that is needed for your body to be fit, flexible. It’s also protection, such prevention against injuries, simply, if someone knows why they are exercising, they will definitely know about it perfectly. And basically, most sports – well, Pilates would be essential today.
[Gosia] When I used to go on Kite Safari, after one day, I couldn’t move. I had such soreness in my stomach, and now I practically don’t feel such a change, that I go from a normal daily mode to an intense sports mode. That’s what Pilates gives you.
[Iza] So how do you divide roles in running Aloha Pilates?
[Gosia] Very flexibly.
[Kuba] We share, we share. We complement each other. We support each other, we try to make it a joint venture. In the sense that it is our joint venture, so we have a division. Gosia leads the classes, so here, of course, that is fantastic work that she does for the studio, for the clients. We take care of everything. The entire background of the studio is a huge amount of work. Of course, what we see is just the tip of the iceberg, right? As they say. However, we are learning this, we are also learning how to work together, to run it. We want it to get better and better.
[Gosia] Our division is such that Kuba rules here, and I rule behind those doors.
[Iza] Upon entering here, you can see the high quality. Why did you choose Balanced Body equipment?
[Kuba] Because it is the best. [laughter] Simply.
[Gosia] I also completed Balanced Body training, so it was an obvious choice for me. Visiting various Pilates studios, I practiced on different equipment, and I believe it is the highest quality equipment, the most beautiful and the most comfortable for the client.
[Iza] Kuba, as an avid kitesurfer, you understand the importance of core strength, balance, and movement control. How does Pilates on the reformer, on such dynamic equipment, directly translate to your skills on the board?
[Kuba] First of all, it is worth understanding that Pilates is a kind of training, I don’t know, for the whole body, for the whole posture, strengthening, I don’t know, deep muscles, and that is the most important thing in daily functioning. Basically, we just feel better. If someone comes regularly to Pilates, it doesn’t matter what they do, they will feel better, their back won’t hurt, they will be more upright, they won’t be hunched over, they won’t have lower back pain. So there are many benefits. In tennis, for example, yes, the ranges after regular training. If you are an amateur, for example, I play as an amateur in tennis, you feel much freer in all fitness sports, well, the core is fundamental.

[Iza] Mhm. Have you ever managed to combine these two passions, kitesurfing and Pilates? At some event or something?
[Gosia] Yes! We managed to. We even held kitesurfing workshops here in the Pilates room, where we had a kiteroomig suspended for kitesurfing tricks. So you can combine everything, and as for how Pilates translates to kitesurfing, I think that it simply makes it easier to progress in kitesurfing because you have a better-prepared body, you have greater capabilities in that body, you have greater flexibility, and everything just fits better.
[Iza] “Aloha Pilates” is essentially not just for surfers, right?
[Kuba] Absolutely. For everyone.
[Iza] And finally, tell me what is your most important advice for someone who also dreams of opening their own, equally unique studio like yours?
[Kuba] Not to copy others. To focus on showing people authenticity and what they themselves would like to bring, because they won’t stand out with something that has already been done. So if you can convince someone of your vision that it is a cool, authentic vision, then people will get on board because they like such concepts, and there’s no need to be afraid. You have to experiment, try. And then it will be good.
[Gosia]
And every bold idea, even one that seems unrealistic, has a chance. Because here, in Wilanów, we could have done something more posh, maybe something more luxurious, but we chose something completely different, with a relaxed, vacation vibe. We didn’t really look at what we should do, only at what we wanted to create here.
[Iza] So the saying: “the world belongs to the brave” can definitely be attributed to you.
[Gosia] I think so.
[Iza] Gosia, Kuba – thank you very much for this fantastic, sunny, and super-friendly conversation. We wish you many wonderful moments, many great successes, and continued joy in running this place because it is truly beautiful here. And you, dear viewers, of course, we encourage you to visit Aloha to feel truly like you are on the edge of the ocean – in the middle of Wilanów. It is a beautiful place. See you in the next episode. Thank you.
[Kuba] Thank you, see you.
[Gosia] Ciao!

Hi, I’m Kuba, and I came up with the name Aloha Pilates 🙂 This short word perfectly captures what we want our clients to feel when they walk into the studio: relaxed, free, and with a vacation vibe. One of my passions is kitesurfing, and that’s where the idea to combine these two worlds came from. Pilates is fundamental for me – core muscle training, mobility, and injury prevention. I believe it’s essential in virtually every sport, from kitesurfing to tennis. At Aloha Pilates, I strive to educate, especially men, that Pilates isn’t “just for women,” but for anyone who wants to be fit, strong, and pain-free. Remember, this is where you take off your coat and just be yourself. Outside of Aloha Pilates, I’m active in the financial industry.
My Pilates journey began out of necessity – a whiplash injury forced me into the arms of a reformer, which remarkably helped me regain full health. However, I quickly discovered that Pilates is more than just rehabilitation. It’s about strength, flexibility, and great visual effects. I once thought that only intense workouts yielded results, but Pilates taught me that sometimes less is more. I’m passionate about kitesurfing and know how complementary these two disciplines are – a strong core is essential in any sport, and Pilates provides me with that 100%.
