Benefits of Pilates Exercises

What benefits does Pilates provide?

Pilates brings about a significant change in health without leaving a mark on your body.

Refreshing mind-body exercises

By focusing on proper breathing, correct spinal and pelvic alignment, and concentrating on fluid movement, you enter a state of harmony with your body. In fact, you learn to control its movements.

In Pilates, the quality of movement is prioritized over the quantity of repetitions. Proper breathing is essential and helps perform movements with maximum power and efficiency. Moreover, learning proper breathing can reduce stress.

Build a strong spine – flat stomach and straight back

Pilates exercises develop a strong “core” or center of the body. The core consists of the deep abdominal muscles along with the muscles closest to the spine. Core control is achieved by integrating the torso, pelvis, and shoulder girdle.

Gain long, lean muscles and their flexibility

More traditional or classic workouts are weight-loaded (in terms of lifting weights) and tend to build short, bulky muscles – those most prone to injury. Pilates elongates and strengthens muscles, improving their flexibility and joint mobility. A body with balanced strength and flexibility is less prone to injuries.

Create a well-proportioned body, improve athletic performance, and prevent injuries

Many traditional workouts tend to focus their efforts on the same muscle groups. This leads to weak muscles becoming weaker and strong muscles becoming stronger. The result is a lack of muscular balance – among other things, a primary cause of injury and chronic back pain.

Pilates strengthens the entire body, including bones and feet. No muscle group is neglected or overworked. Your entire musculature is balanced, allowing you to enjoy daily activities and sports with greater ease, better performance, and a lower chance of injury. That’s why so many professional sports teams and elite athletes use Pilates as a key part of their training.

Learn how to move effectively and efficiently

Pilates exercises several muscle groups simultaneously in fluid and continuous movements. By using the proper technique, you can retrain your body to move in safer, more efficient movement patterns – invaluable in terms of injuries, athletic performance, good posture, and optimal health.

It is gentle…

Many exercises are performed in a lying or seated position, and most of them do not strain or negatively impact the body. Pilates is so safe that it is used in injury rehabilitation and physical therapy.

But it is also a big challenge…

Pilates is an incredibly flexible exercise system. Modifications of exercises allow you to determine the difficulty level from beginner to advanced. Participate in the training that suits you best and increase the intensity as your body’s condition improves.
