Training for Fitness Instructors – Group Reformer Training

We’re excited to introduce a new program – Balanced Body Group Reformer for Fitness Professionals – designed to build the skills of instructors already working in fitness facilities and to prepare them to lead group reformer classes. The training is in its final stages of preparation and will soon launch – both in the USA and in Poland!

The phenomenal course format will be more flexible, allowing participants to start working with clients already during the program. If you’re familiar with our current courses (and if not, you can check them out on the Pilates Training page), you should know that Group Reformer for Fitness Professionals is aligned with the earlier Reformer Instructor Training program. It also grants certifications equivalent to completing the Reformer 1 and Reformer 2 modules.

Group reformer training – why is it worth it?

Balanced Body’s learning platform will include professional educational materials, access to exercise videos, detailed program outlines, tips, and digital handbooks. These are individualized, experience-based teaching programs that will let you uncover the secrets of fundamental Pilates exercises (not just on reformers). You’ll gain access to the knowledge needed for individual practice, and additional instructions will teach you how to lead group classes.

Why is it worth choosing training under Balanced Body’s wing? There are several reasons:

  • A proven program grounded in movement education, rooted in the Pilates methodology, and adaptable to your clients’ needs.
  • A global network of more than 400 teachers and over 30,000 trained Pilates instructors.
  • A flexible, modular system giving you more time, options, and ways to learn – some sessions require in-person attendance, while others can be viewed online on demand, whenever you like.

The training also includes additional educational workshops, either held live online or available on demand, addressing the specific needs of your business. You’ll receive detailed, illustrated instructions, along with video streaming and guides on equipment safety and maintenance.

Pilates training – essential knowledge

We currently have three courses planned, at different levels of experience. This is so we can give you the most complete picture of Pilates knowledge and tailor the course as closely as possible to your current level. Here’s what we’re preparing:

  • Movement Principles – The Fundamentals of PilatesOver the course’s 16 hours, you’ll learn the basic elements of the Pilates method. You’ll gain awareness of your own movement patterns and learn how to train others to optimize the movement of their bodies. You’ll build a solid foundation for running effective Pilates classes and sessions. This level has no prerequisites.
  • Reformer Level 1 for the Fitness ProfessionalThis course is another 16 hours, this time aimed at people meeting at least one of the following conditions:
    • Have an ongoing mat or reformer practice.
    • Hold mat Pilates certifications.
    • Have 2 to 5 years of teaching experience as a group fitness instructor, personal trainer, or yoga instructor.

The Reformer Level 1 course reveals the reformer’s unlimited movement potential and teaches instructors how to safely use reformers during group classes. It provides the “why” behind the “how,” building critical thinking skills right from the start of the training. Participants learn how to design dynamic group reformer classes and how to structure exercises throughout a session. This module also includes an overview of common modifications needed to meet clients’ individual needs.

  • Reformer Level 2 for the Fitness ProfessionalThis is also 16 hours, aimed at instructors who have completed Level 1. It expands on the topics covered in the previous course with intermediate and advanced exercises, of course adapted for group classes. The course covers progressions, regressions, and more common modifications. It also includes programs for specific groups, including pregnant women, postpartum clients, people with osteoporosis, and those dealing with lower-back issues.
