Ken Endelman

Hi! I’m Ken Endelman, founder and CEO of Balanced Body. I began my career in 1976 as a custom furniture designer and maker in Hollywood. This early commitment to the highest quality craftsmanship and attention to detail is still evident in every piece of Balanced Body equipment.

One day, my professional life changed when a client teaching Pilates asked me to create an improved version of the reformer. Curious, I studied Joseph Pilates’ original designs and consulted with instructors to make functional improvements. Thus, the modern reformer was born, and I found my new path.

Throughout the 1980s, I continually refined the equipment, collaborating with early pioneers like Ron Fletcher, Eve Gentry, Carola Trier, and Kathy Grant. This constant evolution has kept Balanced Body at the forefront of innovation in Pilates equipment design. Understanding how Pilates impacts people’s lives has deepened my mission. I demonstrated my commitment to the Pilates community by spearheading the historic trademark dispute that freed the term “Pilates” to the public domain. Today, I share my expertise on the evolution of the reformer, running a Pilates business, and scaling the industry globally.
