From Corporation to Own Studio – A Passion That Changes Lives – Interview with Ula from Core Pilates Studio in Brzesko

Can you be “just” an investor in the Pilates industry without being an instructor? Urszula Gurgul from Brzesko proves that it is possible, although her passion for Pilates quickly verified her plans. A corporate finance employee by day, she created a place she was looking for – a modern studio based on the foundation of conscious movement.

Find out why Ula opted for uncompromising quality of Balanced Body equipment even before starting her own instructor training and how her experience from the big business helps her build a local community in a smaller town.

We invite you to a conversation about the courage to change, choosing the best, and the satisfaction that changes lives.

[Iza Wiśniewska from Balanced Body Polska] Hello. We warmly welcome you to the Balanced Body Polska channel. Today we are in Brzesko, with a very interesting person, Urszula Gurgul, the owner of Core Pilates Studio. Ula is an example of someone whose passion can completely change their life, and you will soon see why, as she will definitely tell us about it. Thank you for having us here. Thank you for the invitation.

[Urszula Gurgul] Thank you for visiting.

[Iza] Ula, from what we know, you initially planned to be just an investor in the world of Pilates. Tell me, why did you choose this industry?

[Ula] Initially, it was about something completely different and very simple. I just wanted to practice on a reformer. There was no such place in Brzesko, and I thought that if I was missing it, perhaps others were too. And from that simple assumption, this studio was born.

[Iza] Opening a studio in a smaller town, because Brzesko is not a big city, right?

[Ula] Yes.

[Iza] It’s different challenges than those that arise in Krakow or Warsaw. Tell me, what was the process of creating Core Pilates Studio from scratch like, what challenges did you face, what surprised you in all of this?

[Ula] Well, I suspect that at the beginning I faced similar problems, such as choosing the space, arranging it, selecting equipment, training staff, and those are basic things. A great support for me turned out to be my kindred spirit – Alicja – who has completed Balanced Body training and has been working in the Pilates system for several years. Her experience and perspective from the practice side of Pilates were a huge support for me. But in reality, the biggest asset turned out to be our community, which quickly responded with great engagement and interest.

[Iza] Mhm. So from the very beginning of your work here, you had Alicja with you, right?

[Ula] Yes.

[Iza] And only later… iej developed this further with your idea of continuing this also in the role of a trainer?

[Ula] This came a little later. I was participating in the fitness fair in Łódź, where I got to know your team better, Ania Tytus. And after a few conversations there, I concluded that my practice is also a significant asset in running such a studio.

[Iza] So you decided to participate in the training?

[Ula] Yes.

[Iza] And this is Balanced Body training, right?

[Ula] That’s right.

[Iza] Why Balanced Body?

[Ula] I concluded that it is a very comprehensive program, demanding, but offering great opportunities upon completion. Meeting with Ania confirmed this for me, and I decided that if I am going to train, it should be with the best, from the best, and to gain knowledge from those whose experience provides me with real, tangible help.

[Iza] First you chose the equipment, not the training, and why did you choose Balanced Body since you hadn’t been to the training? You were somewhat of an investor from the outside.

[Ula] I chose Balanced Body equipment because of its quality, reliability, and ease of use for both practitioners and instructors. I believe it is essential to provide clients with that comfort of work. And I knew that I wanted to create a studio and a place with the highest standards, so this equipment must reflect that.

[Iza] And before you became the owner of Core Pilates, what were you doing professionally?

[Ula] Professionally, I am still not connected to Pilates, apart from my training. I work in a financial corporation, but it provides a nice balance. What Pilates gives me is a nice balance between my professional work.

[Iza] And how does your experience from this completely different job, entirely detached from this industry, translate into running a studio?

[Ula] Contrary to appearances, the organization of work from my professional job often translates into running the business and organizing the studio’s work, so I believe this is a significant asset.

[Iza] And the name: Core Pilates Studio, what does it mean to you? Why did you choose this name for your place?

[Ula] Core is the center, the center of our body and a strong foundation on which we want to build our studio community, based on conscious, functional movement of the whole body.

[Iza] Great, great idea, it generally associates very well with Pilates. You are an example that there is always a good time for changing life plans, because as we mentioned, you didn’t plan to become an instructor, and a lot is happening, and surely much more will happen. wydarzy. Tell me, what would you say to those who are considering a similar development path, wanting to invest first – what advice do you have for them?

[Ula] I believe there is never a wrong time. It certainly requires a significant commitment of our time and effort, but in the end, it brings us immense satisfaction, and the space and community we create give back a lot to us.

[Iza] Mhm, what should they prepare for?

[Ula] It definitely requires a lot of commitment, consistency, and hard work, but it pays off later with the strong engagement of our clients in our Pilates community.

[Iza] So it’s a bit like people create this place, right?

[Ula] Absolutely.

[Iza] And what are your plans for the future of Core Pilates Studio?

[Ula] I would like to continue developing our offerings, grow as an instructor, take care of our staff who are already working with our clients, and above all, ensure continued comfort for our clients.

[Iza] So finally, Ula, what is one thing that people watching this interview should take away, especially those who would really like to enter this industry but are not necessarily trainers?

[Ula] Well, what should they focus on? I think on quality. Above all. And this quality should be reflected in the equipment, the teaching staff, and perhaps most importantly, in the relationship with clients. Everything else is operational work that may not be visible every day. Summarizing it all, it brings a great deal of satisfaction later on.

[Iza] So running a studio can be fulfilling and change lives for the better.

[Ula] It definitely is.

[Iza] Not just for the people who come here, but also for the owner trainers. Ula, thank you very much for this fascinating conversation…

[Ula] Thank you very much.

I am a graduate in Managerial Economics as well as Finance and Accounting, with a specialization in Marketing. Since 2018, I have been working as a Copywriter at Balanced Body, where I create marketing content for the fitness and Pilates industries. One of my particular strengths is translating complex topics into accessible language and accurately analyzing the needs of target audiences. Outside of work, I am passionate about fire shows and volleyball, which helps me better understand the needs of physically active people.

I’d previously built my career in a financial institution, but Pilates became my life’s passion and a way to find the perfect balance. My journey with this sport began with a simple need – I wanted to exercise on a reformer myself, and since there wasn’t a place like it in Brzesko, I decided to create one. Although I initially planned to be just an investor, I decided to pursue professional training in the Balanced Body system so I could fully share my knowledge with our community. At Core Pilates Studio, I prove that it’s never too late to change and pursue your dreams.
